Our History

We are proud of our heritage of close customer relationships, scientific rigor, and quality products. It is a history that starts with the development of our first product for livestock in 1953. In the 1970s, we introduced new tools to improve feed efficiency to prevent and control disease. In the 1980s, we began to shift away from plant science and towards animal health. Into the new millennium, when we launched our companion animal business to address the health needs of our pets. Looking to the future, we are humbled by the global challenges ahead and vow to bring needed solutions in the field of animal health.

Our Cause-Driven Culture

Elanco’s commitment to healthy animals, healthy people and a healthy planet goes beyond the products we sell. We are committed to delivering expertise through science-based insights into some of animal health’s most pressing and difficult issues, primarily: food security and the human-animal bond. Our shared-value strategy engages employees, connects with the communities where we live and work, and aims to provide global, sustainable solutions.

We have more than 75,000 employee volunteer hours since 2014 engaged in both cause-related projects and disaster relief efforts. We’ve contributed over 10,000 hours of training to help farmers in emerging markets. All in all, we have more than 455 global volunteer projects.
